  1. Indigenous knowledge is defined as knowledge which is spatially and/or culturally context specific, collective, holistic, and adaptive. Source
  2. Context specific knowledge that communities have developed themselves for centuries and allowed them to live in their environment for often long periods of time. Also referred to as “local” knowledgeindigenous knowledge is a set of perceptions, information and behaviors that guide local community members in terms of how to best use their natural resources.
